Supporting the auIGF 2025

July 30, 2025

This year’s auIGF will take place on September 23-24 at the Adelaide Convention and Exhibition Centre, South Australia and online. If you are interested in the future of Australia’s digital governance, we encourage you to register today.

Program fundamentals

This year’s theme, Global Visions, Local Impact: The Future of Australia’s Digital Governance has been broken down into the below subthemes:

  1. The Future of Internet Governance
  2. Digital Trust and Resilience
  3. Sustainable Digital Inclusion

A range of topics will be addressed in the auIGF program, including digital inclusion and AI equity, multistakeholder participation, digital platform ownership, children’s safety online, fostering trust online for Australians and indigenous perspectives on digital equity. Many of these sessions are designed to be participatory and will assist in contributing to the evolution of today’s digital ecosystem, positively challenging our ways of thinking.

Indigenous Leaders Internet Governance and Policy Fellowship

Identity Digital and the auIGF recently announced that applications for the 2025 Indigenous Leaders Internet Governance and Policy Fellowship are now open. Ram Mohan, Chief Strategy Officer at Identity Digital highlights the significance of this opportunity:

“This fellowship presents a unique opportunity for emerging leaders to deepen their understanding of Internet governance and policy in Australia. Over two immersive days at the auIGF, participants will engage with critical topics shaping the Internet’s future and gain insights they can bring back to their communities to drive meaningful, lasting impact.”

If you meet the Eligibility Criteria, apply today.

Australia’s Digital Governance

The future of Australia’s Digital Governance will impact all of us, whether we are actively involved or not. Back in March we wrote about key steps needed to support the continued growth of an open, free internet, including addressing the challenges of internet fragmentation and emphasising the importance of multistakeholder collaboration.

Attending events like the auIGF helps those who are interested to stay informed of these critical issues and understand the potential implications. If you want to contribute to shaping the future of the Internet within Australia, register now at auigf.au and add it to your calendar.
